This Privacy Policy describes how Shape ("Shape," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use the Shape: BMI Calculator mobile application (iOS/Android), related services, and this website (together, the "Service"). This Policy is designed to meet Apple App Store and Google Play disclosure expectations, including transparency about data collection, use, sharing, retention, and your rights.
By using the Service, you acknowledge this Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Who we are
Shape is an independent BMI calculator and health-tracking application, published under the developer account for the bundle/package identifier com.aandistudio.shape.

2. Scope
This Policy applies to personal data processed through the app and this website. Platform providers (Apple, Google) and our subscription-billing provider process certain data under their own privacy policies when you download the app or make an in-app purchase.
3. Categories of information we collect
A. Information you provide
- Measurements you enter: height, weight, age, sex, and related inputs used to calculate BMI, body fat, BMR/TDEE, and waist-to-hip ratio
- Goals and preferences: goal weight, unit system (metric/imperial/stones), BMI classification standard, language, and theme
- Support communications: messages you send to us by email
B. Information collected automatically
- Device & app diagnostics: device type/OS version, app version, and crash/performance signals where platform tools provide them
- Purchase/entitlement status: whether Shape+ is active, product identifiers, and renewal state, processed via Apple, Google, and our subscription platform RevenueCat. We do not receive your full payment card number
- Website logs: standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for this website
C. Information processed only on your device or, if you opt in, via Apple Health
- All of your measurements and history are stored locally on your device by default. Shape does not require an account and has no cloud sync of your health data
- Apple Health (HealthKit) sync, if you enable it: Shape can read your latest weight and today's step count from Apple Health to save you re-entering it, and does not write data back to Apple Health except the entries you explicitly save in the app. This only runs on iOS and only if you grant permission in Settings
4. How we use information
We use information to:
- Calculate and display your BMI, body composition, and related metrics
- Save your history and goal weight locally so you can see your trend over time
- Process and verify Shape+ subscription purchases and restore them across your devices on the same store account
- Sync weight and steps from Apple Health, only if you turn this on
- Improve reliability, fix bugs, and respond to support requests
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use your health measurements for third-party advertising.
5. Local-first design
Shape is built to work entirely on your device. There is no account, login, or server-side database of your measurements. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes your history, since nothing is retained by us once it leaves your device.
6. Legal bases (EEA/UK/Switzerland)
Where GDPR/UK GDPR applies, we rely on:
- Contract: to provide the features you use
- Consent: for optional Apple Health access, requested via the operating system's own permission prompt
- Legitimate interests: security, fraud prevention, and product reliability
- Legal obligation: where we must retain or disclose information
7. Sharing & processors
We share personal data only as needed with service providers acting on our instructions or as required by platforms:
- Apple / Google — app distribution and in-app purchase processing
- RevenueCat — subscription entitlement management for Shape+
- Hosting provider — website hosting and standard server logs for this site
We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security. Third parties process data under their own terms for platform checkout and identity.
8. Tracking, advertising & analytics
Shape is not an ad-supported product and does not track you across third-party apps or websites for advertising. We do not sell data to data brokers. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this Policy and, where required (including Apple's App Tracking Transparency), request permission before any cross-app tracking.
9. Retention
- On-device data: remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app
- Purchase records: retained as needed for accounting, fraud prevention, and store compliance
- Website logs: retained for a limited operational period
10. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Since your measurements and history live only on your device, you can exercise most of these rights directly by deleting data in the app or uninstalling it.
California (CCPA/CPRA) and similar US state laws: you may request to know, delete, and correct personal information. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are commonly defined for cross-context behavioral advertising.

11. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the higher minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child provided data to us, contact us and we will address it.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to an independent app, including TLS for network traffic where applicable and platform-standard on-device storage protections. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
13. Health & wellness notice
Shape is a self-help calculator and tracking tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment, or clinical advice. Estimates (BMI, body fat, BMR, TDEE, waist-to-hip ratio) use standard published formulas and are approximations only. Do not use Shape as a substitute for professional medical care.
14. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. The "Last updated" date will change when we do. For material changes, we may also provide notice in the app or on this website. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Policy where permitted by law; where consent is required, we will request it.
